EXCALIBAH : MUSIC
At 19, Matthew became the first DJ to join BBC Radio 1Xtra, recruited from his award-winning pirate radio show on West London's Juice FM.
Performing as Excalibah, he has played at the UK’s major festivals, including Glastonbury, and held residencies at prestigious clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Fabric, and venues across the UK and Europe. He has supported international artists including Questlove, Kano, Plan B, De La Soul, Naughty by Nature, Talib Kweli, and Grandmaster Flash.

Known for championing UK rappers, he won Best Radio Show and Best Radio Presenter in the hip-hop press for his BBC 1Xtra show Tales From The Legend (2001 – 2005), giving airplay to artists including Estelle, Professor Green, Example, and Plan B. He also covered shows for the legendary John Peel on BBC Radio 1.

Excalibah performed for a live audience of 85,000 (including Queen Elizabeth II) and a global audience of over a billion as a headline DJ at the London 2012 Paralympic Opening Ceremony.
In 2022, Matthew was invited to join the judging panel representing the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest, reflecting his enduring influence in music, broadcasting, and culture.
